Hi hi hi hi! Well, it’s been *a few* months since my last newsletter — and for good reason! Things have been busy. Busier than normal. Hustle-ery than normal. My debut picture book, Fiona Builds A Fairy House (illustrated by Celia Krampien and published by Macmillan Kids) is finally here! And it’s been the debut week of my dreams! I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the number of calls, texts, posts, and shares of all the kiddos reading and loving Fiona (and her friends!) and I just wanted to say a huge huge thank you. I’ve shared them all with Celia and our team at Macmillan Kids and we’re just over the moon that you love our plucky girl and her story as much as we do.
All that said, here are some ways to help us celebrate Fiona’s release!
Share Fiona with your family and friends! And/or your local bookstore. And/or request a copy from your local library! It’s free and usually easy to call or log onto the library website.
Speaking of librarians, please share Fiona with your school librarian! I would absolutely love to do more school visits and I’m available to travel.
Leave an online review! Amazon and GoodReads are the big ones and help a ton with algorithms and what-not. You could also add to your “want to read/wishlist” shelves on Amazon, GoodReads, Bookshop.org, Barnes and Noble etc. Every little click and nudge helps a ton!
Grab a signed copy from Half Price Books! For a limited time/while supplies last you can call and order from the flagship store in Dallas on Northwest Highway (214-379-8000). I am happy to personalize!
Recently I posted at @storytimebookclub that I’m working on a fairy-and-fairy-house-adjacent substack, and that is true! It’s in the works, so stay tuned. In the meantime I wanted to provide this Fiona-inspired content packet we’ve developed the last few weeks. It’s very fun! It includes a book report template, an activity page to draw your own fairy house, two fairy name generators (the Stardust/Moonbeam edition and the Pip/Wink edition), five coloring pages based off of Celia’s amazing illustrations, and a letter from me. As always it is free to download; the password is wetcat (iykyk!) :)
To close I wanted to thank everyone who came to Fiona’s launch party on Sunday at the flagship Half Price Books in Dallas. Y’all packed the house and we sold out of books! Here are some fun pictures. We’re currently working on additional “tour” dates and locations for this fall and next spring so please let me know if I should come to your city/school.
Thanks everyone! Go Team Fiona! xo Kristen :)
Congratulations! We’d love to see you in Iowa 🙃
So excited for you and the success of your book! :-) YAY, YOU!! E
